A Benefit for STEAM
– Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math –
for Apollo-Ridge students
The Apollo-Ridge Education Foundation’s 2015 Gala/Silent Auction Event for STEAM is slated for Saturday, November 7, 2015, at The Links at Spring Church. The proceeds from the gala will support the continued creation of the STEAM Center, a learning environment for cross-curricular learning based on real-world applications. Over 100 guests attended 2014’s upscale event that featured wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and live music. As a result of donations from over 150 sponsors and donors, 90 auction items were available for bid. Net proceeds from the event totaled $12,000 — the largest fund raiser in the AREF’s 19 year history! The Foundation’s $12,000 gift to the Apollo-Ridge School District was used to purchase 15 K’Nex kits and 15 VEX robotics kits for students in grades 6 through 12. This year, the AREF is planning to support the Apollo-Ridge School District’s plan to implement STEAM Curriculum K-12 through Project Lead the Way, the nation’s leading provider of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. Through world-class K-12 curriculum, high-quality teacher professional development, and outstanding partnerships, PLTW is helping students develop the skills needed to succeed in the global economy. The AREF has begun the process of gathering sponsorships and donations for the 2015 Gala/Silent Auction. All gifts will be acknowledged in the event’s program, AREF website, and annual report. Your organization’s name will be seen by hundreds of potential clients as part of our advertising efforts. For more details, please contact Cris Kostiuk, AREF President, at 724-478-6010 or kostiukc@apolloridge.com. The AREF is a registered 501(c)(3) and an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) through the State’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Donations to the AREF are tax-deductible to the limits allowable by law. www.apollo-
